Watteredge Intermediate Cables are used in a broad spectrum of industries and applications. These cables are designed and assembled to reach maximum power and reliability for all high current applications. Our line of water cooled cables are available in both standard construction rope lay design and an exclusive concentric construction design. Each is individually designed to meet the particular requirements of the application it will serve.
The rope lay cable is made up of several large copper ropes ranging in size from 1” diameter to 2” diameter. These ropes are laid up around the core of the cable, on a specified pitch length, to maintain its circular shape. Watteredge uses a copper rope with a 24 or 30 AWG strand in its Intermediate Cable Line.
The Concentric Lay cable is the most efficient cable construction on the market today. It is constructed with several bunches of 7/.064 strand copper wire laid up around the core in a much shorter pitch length than the rope lay cable. This construction permits the use of a heavier base wire size without sacrificing any flexibility. But more importantly, the available cross-sectional area of the copper is utilized to its maximum efficiency, thus providing a cable with the lowest possible AC resistance available anywhere.
