Proper Kickless Cable Installation Methods
- Always connect the water inlet to the gun-end of the cable.
- The cable
coolant system should be connected independently to the feed and
drain manifolds.
- Use both water inlets and outlets where possible.
If a combination of one (1) inlet and two (2) outlets or two (2)
inlets and one (1) outlet is used, a 20% reduction in water flow will
result. If only one (1) inlet and one (1) outlet are used, a 31.5%
drop will result.
- Cables should be installed to allow all bend radii
to be as large as possible. Unnecessary bends should not be permitted.
- The
cable terminal should intersect the transformer buss vertically,
allowing the cable to hang straight down.
- Transformers should be installed
as near to the weld station as possible, permitting a cable length
as short as practical.
- A lack of sufficient water will result in
reduced cable life.
