Watteredge has been involved with custom bus bar manufacturing for the last 70 years. We produce both copper and aluminum air cooled electrical bus bar systems. We are able to machine, form, punch, bend, braze, weld, and assemble electrical bus bars for any need you the customer have. Additionally, quotes and inquires about any type of bus bar can be made through our website and a sales representative will get back to you about any questions you have.

Custom Copper and Aluminum Bus Bars

Our high-current secondary AC and DC copper bus bars support a wide range of applications, including bus ducts, grounding, and industrial systems. The temperature at which the conductor operates determines the current-carrying capacity. Our copper bus bars deliver between 600–700 amps per square inch in thicker designs, and up to 1200–1400 amps per square inch in thinner bars under ideal conditions. We can plate copper bus bars with silver, tin, gold, or nickel, and can insulate them using heat shrink, powder coat, epoxy, or plastisol. Depending on availability and cost, we use C11000 (Electrolytic Tough Pitch Copper), C10100 and C10200 (Oxygen-Free Coppers), C12200 (Phosphorous Deoxidized Copper), and C18200 (Chromium Copper, Class 2).

While less conductive than copper, aluminum bus bars offer several advantages. They weigh less, making installation easier, and cost less due to lower material prices. We can plate aluminum bus bars with silver, tin, or nickel and can insulate them with heat shrink or powder coating. Furthermore, we are able to supply the following types of aluminum; structural grades 6061 and 5052, and electrical grades 1100, 1350, 6101, and 6063. If your organization needs help choosing the right manufacturing method or aluminum grade, our expert engineers will provide custom recommendations that meet your specific application.
