Inspection

When your part arrives at Watteredge, one of our experienced engineers inspects it right away. They pinpoint exactly what needs repaired or replaced. If we’re inspecting a water-cooled cable, we remove the bumpers, sheathing, and outer hose cover to expose the components. We then test the conductors for integrity, check the terminals for any stress or distortion, and closely examine the water passages. We also perform additional tests as needed to ensure your equipment meets the highest standards of performance and reliability. If any issues prevent your parts from meeting these standards, we’ll outline clear solutions to restore them.

Reconditioning and Repair

After inspection, we move quickly into reconditioning and repair. The process varies based on what we’re working on. For large water-cooled cables, we start by clearing any deposits in the water passages, then straighten terminal pads and apply a fresh silver plating to the contact surfaces. We install new outer hose coverings and wrap them with new sheathing. Finally, we add new anti-chafing gear or bumpers. For other products, our skilled technicians might weld, reweld, or braze components so they’re ready to go back into service. Throughout these processes, we work with precision to extend the life of your equipment.

Rebuilding

Once we complete the repairs, we handle any necessary rebuilding to restore full functionality. For water-cooled cables with deteriorated copper wire conductors, we solder new wire together with a new core hose or filter spring. We then attach it directly to the original terminal, which we either recondition or fully replace depending on its condition. By combining expert craftsmanship with quality materials, we ensure your repaired or rebuilt parts will operate at peak performance, supporting the long-term success of your operations.
